Highbay Automated Warehouse, Phase I
|
|
|
Completed
in two phases, this
warehouse houses a fully automated inventory system by which
the Marines store general gear. In the event of military deployment, the
automated materials handling system (AMHS) is capable of completely
emptying the warehouse of its inventory within 24 hours. In addition to
saving time, this system also saves space—the automation required to
“retrieve” a parcel takes less space than the aisles and walkways of a
conventional warehouse, so storage capacity is increased. The result is a
compact and efficient structure.
