$5-10 Million
North City Water Reclamation Plant
San Diego, CA
AWARDS:
Concrete Structure—Building of the Year 1999
American Concrete Institute
San Diego Chapter

Like the entire North City
Water Reclamation
Plant, the design of the Flow Equalization
Basins evokes
a business-park feel. Each
basin holds three million gallons of raw
sewage. The structure is visible from busy
Miramar Road between I-805 and
I-15.

The
project was a component of the North City Water Reclamation Plant (NCWRP),
which began operating in 1997 and was the first new large treatment plant
to open in San Diego in over 30 years. The
project involved the construction of two prestressed concrete holding
tanks (basins) with associated piping, as well as the construction of
extensive retaining / screen walls to aesthetically “blend” the
overall project with the surrounding area.

"I appreciate the efforts of C.
E. Wylie Construction in making the North City Water Reclamation Plant a
successful project. In particular, the efforts of [management personnel]
are much appreciated. Their work in helping to coordinate the efforts of
multiple prime contractors on the site, in addition to managing several of
your large subcontractors, was one of the key elements of the success of
the North City Water Reclamation Plant."

Contracts Manager,
Sverdrup/ICF Kaiser for the City of San Diego
